James Newman : Director

Originally a painter, he left Toronto to settle in Montreal to do a master’s degree in fine arts. His early works were included in private collections and at the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec (MNBAQ), with the help of grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ ). His last major exhibition, titled “Painting is Not Television,” sparked his interest in video and moving images.
